avec text d’intro: C’est avec grande tristesse que mon amour nous
as laissé aujourd’hui.
It is with great sadness and sorrow that
my best friend and soul mate has left us today. Kelly was the love of my life.
She was my biggest fan. She was a devoted Aunt to Sofia and Leah, sister to Amy
and daughter to Marvia. She was brilliant. She was a great observer of the
world around her. She taught me to look up at the sky and be amazed. If you see
a cloud that looks like a bunny, that’s her way of winking at you.

Kelly has long been associated with
knitting everywhere she went. From work, public transportation, watching as
many curling games as she could, or at home, Kelly was happiest when she was
knitting. She was the poster child for knitting in public.
When she joined the Ottawa Knitting
Guild (https://www.ottawaknittingguild.ca), she was delighted - she had found her people. It took a bit of time
to feel accepted but when she took a leap of faith and decided to join the
executive as the newsletter editor/coordinator, she put her heart and soul into
putting these together. She loved to express her creative side with her set-up of
the photos for the front page of each newsletter. It was beautiful to watch her
design these photos. The newsletter was also a wonderful outlet for her writing
- there's a few longer pieces that she called 'String Theory' as an hommage to
our favorite TV show - the Big Bang Theory. It meant so much to me to see her
so happy. She put so much energy and late nights into each one. I've summarized
all of her contributions to the 21 newsletter editions that she coordinated
between Sept 2018 to Jan 2021 - see attached photos.
Kelly's virtual memorial celebration
will take place on zoom Sunday June 6 @ 3pm. There will be fireworks! Details
will be shared once available.

Some of our happiest moments was at the
cottage. This was Kelly's parent's cottage that had been built in the 40s and
purchased by Marvia's mother - a 1 room log cabin on a 1 acre island at Mayo
Lake close to Bancroft. Kelly first went to the cottage as an infant and it was
always a place of renewal and comfort. A place away from it all, with no cell
coverage, no internet, no power, no electricity, no plumbing but with
everything important that we needed.
Here are a few photos to provide a
glimpse of this place and what it meant to Kelly.

Aujourd'hui, c'est notre 21e anniversaire de mariage. Quelle
belle aventure on as fait ensemble.
I never quite realized until much later
the heresy of joining the 2 solitudes we had committed together. It was an
honour to be married by the great Jim Christie, Kelly's childhood United Church
minister that counted Canadian cardinals as friends and charmed my mother with
talk of his private audiences with the Pope in a fluent
French.
